Riley Family Duck Pond
We are looking forward to another great season of skating and memory-making on the Riley Family Duck Pond. We hope to have it open by mid-December. Stay tuned for updates! For your safety, please stay off the Pond until the green flags are up and the Pond is officially open.
The Riley Family Duck Pond in Assiniboine Park provides a unique venue for family fun. In summer, visitors can stroll along the waters edge and admire the variety of waterfowl that take up residency here. Skating is a favourite winter activity made more enjoyable in the outdoor setting of the Park. The Duck Pond shelter provides a heated venue to warm up as well as a facility to change into your skates. After visiting, be sure to stop in at The Park Café located at the end of the Duck Pond for a snack, lunch, a refreshing beverage, or to enjoy the warmth of the fireplace seating area.
Assiniboine Park Ski Trails
Winter is here and cross-country ski season has begun! Grooming will commence once we have a bit more snow. Please follow us on Twitter for updates on trail conditions.
Come to Assiniboine Park to experience our groomed cross-country ski trails. Enjoy the beautiful scenery and watch for wildlife as you ski past the Lyric Theatre and Formal Gardens. At the end of your ski, ski back to the Duck Pond shelter to warm-up or enjoy an après-ski hot chocolate or lunch at The Park Café.
Admission is Free
During the winter, once we have enough snow, the trails are typically groomed twice a week as weather permits. We do not groom the trails if it is snowing and will commence grooming when the snowfall stops.
The Toboggan Hill is open!
Located near the Riley Family Duck Pond on the north side of the Nature Playground, the Toboggan Hill has become a favourite attraction for the young and the young at heart! The main hill offers exciting thrills and spills for those who love the feel of wind (and snow) in their face. Please slide with caution, try to stick to the centre of the hill, watch out for little ones and people walking, and be patient when the hill is busy. Most of all, have fun!
