Duck Pond

Duck Pond

The expanded Duck Pond opened for its first season of skating in January of 2011. Redevelopment has seen this area increase to more than double its original size with an emphasis on greatly enhanced interactivity, education and play. Children can come close to the water's edge, cross stepping stones to small islands, engage in activities such as dip-netting, and experience the area like never before. And in the winter months the Duck Pond becomes a large skating rink for everyone to enjoy.


Lyric Theatre

Lyric Theatre

The Lyric Theatre carries on the tradition of summer bandshell entertainment in the Park. The large outdoor stage features performances for every taste and age, including Ballet in the Park, the symphony, and the Opera and Jazz festivals. The Lyric Theatre is a fitting home for quality, family entertainment, all provided free of charge.


Bike Rentals

Bike Rentals

Come rent a single, tandem, or other unique pedal-powered novelty bikes from Bee2gether Bikes located on Assiniboine Park Drive the duck pond and the Assiniboine Park foot bridge (look for the yellow and black Boler camper). Personal bicycle tours are also available.

Citizens Hall of Fame

Citizens Hall of Fame

As the first of its kind, the Citizens Hall of Fame is a permanent momento to the pursuit and attainment of individual excellence and achievement on behalf of one's community. It is a tourist attraction, repository of local history, a source of education to the Winnipeg community, and lastly, a vehicle for displaying talents of local artists. The Citizens Hall of Fame is located in the south east corner of Assiniboine Park near the Formal Gardens.

Toboggan Hill

Toboggan Hill

The Toboggan Hill, located near the Duck Pond on the north side of the Nature Playground, has become a favourite attraction for the young and the young at heart! The main hill offers exciting thrills and spills for those who love the feel of wind (and snow) in their face.

The toboggan hill is now closed for the season.


Assiniboine Park Ski Trails

Assiniboine Park Ski Trails

Come to Assiniboine Park to experience 5.37 kilometres of cross-country ski trails. Enjoy the beautiful scenery and watch for wildlife as you ski past the Lyric Theatre and Formal Gardens. At the end of your ski, ski back to the Duck Pond shelter to warm-up.

Admission is Free
Open 8:00 am to 10:00 pm

During the winter, the trails are typically groomed twice a week as weather permits. We do not groom the trails if it is snowing and will commence grooming when the snowfall stops.

Due to excessive melting, the ski trails are now closed for the season.
