Assiniboine Park Conservancy Breaks Ground on New Entrance for Assiniboine Park Zoo

Today, the Assiniboine Park Conservancy (APC) held a ground breaking ceremony to officially mark the start of construction on a new entrance for the Assiniboine Park Zoo. Construction will begin immediately with a scheduled completion date of spring 2014.

James Cohen & Linda McGarva-Cohen Donate $500,000 for New Tiger Habitat at Assiniboine Park Zoo

Today, James Cohen and Linda McGarva-Cohen announced a gift of $500,000 towards the Assiniboine Park Conservancy’s (APC) Imagine a Place Campaign. The gift has been designated towards the building of a new habitat for the Asian large cats in the Assiniboine Park Zoo and ensures the continuation of the Amur tiger breeding program at the Zoo.

Assiniboine Park Celebrates Canada’s Garden Day with Butterfly Release at the Shirley Richardson Butterfly Garden

Today is Canada’s Garden Day and to mark the special occasion, a group of grade 1 and 2 students from Arborg School will participate in the release of native and tropical butterfly species in the Shirley Richardson Butterfly Garden at the Assiniboine Park Zoo at 11 a.m.

New Art Show at Assiniboine Park Features Contemporary Art from Winnipeg to Nunavut

Assiniboine Park Conservancy (APC) is pleased to announce their Summer Feature Exhibition: Cultural Impressions - Contemporary Art from Winnipeg to Nunavut is now open at the Pavilion Gallery Museum and Conservatory Foyer Gallery until September 2, 2013. This is the first of a series of exhibitions that will explore contemporary art of Inuit and Indigenous peoples.

All aboard the big red bus!

In 2005, Senator Douglas and Patty Everett purchased this bright red 1967 Routemaster double decker bus in London for nostalgic reasons and brought it home to Canada. The Domo Double Decker will be a feature attraction this summer at Assiniboine Park, providing free “jump on jump off” transportation for visitors with stops at all major destinations including the Conservatory, Pavilion, Qualico Family Centre and new Zoo entrance at 2595 Roblin Blvd.
