Locations in the Conservatory

The Conservatory Display Area is the most popular area in the Conservatory to have a wedding ceremony, take family or wedding photos and hold other special events.  The plant display changes several times a year and offers a unique and beautiful layout for events.

Timing

Wedding ceremonies are booked in 1 or 2-hour time slots.  Within your allotted time all set-up, your ceremony, photos and take-down must occur.

With the booking of a 2-hour wedding ceremony, you will be allowed to have a 1-hour rehearsal.  The rehearsal must be booked in advance with the Events Office. 

Wedding ceremonies booked for 1-hour do NOT include a rehearsal. Additional fees will apply for if a 1-hour wedding wishes to book a rehearsal.

Photos are booked in 1-hour time slots.

When booking the Conservatory during regular hours of operation, please be aware that the area is non-exclusive.  We are open to the public and visitors may use walkway in the Display Area to access the Star Conservatory Restaurant.  Signage will be put up to note that a wedding is in progress and the public is respectful upon entering the area.

It is vital, that your group arrive on time as we book back to back time slots.  Arriving late will result in less time for you to complete your booking.

Services Provided

• 65 chairs*
• A table and chair for signing your marriage license
• Power access**

*The client is responsible for the set-up and the removal of any chairs, which are provided at no charge. Please note, there is limited space for chairs and placement of the chairs by your group is dependent on the current display. The display changes frequently and may not be the same when you come to visit and book as it will be on the date of your event.

**The client is responsible for the supply, set-up and operation of any CDs or sound equipment required.

Capacity

Display Area: approximately 40 people standing

After hours: the entire building accommodates up to 300 people for a reception and the Foyer up to 150 for a sit-down dinner

There are benches in the Display Area for seating. The moving or removal of benches requires consultation with the Events Office staff, who will make the necessary arrangements with the Horticulture staff.

Receptions at the Conservatory

The Conservatory Foyer is a perfect location for a stand-up cocktail reception or formal sit-down dinner for wedding receptions, holiday parties and other special events. For events after hours, your guests can mingle in the tropical Palm House and Display Area. 

Notice:  The Star Conservatory Restaurant will be closing permanently on Sunday, January 22 at 5:00pm. All events and catering services booked through the venue will be fulfilled.
