ART IN THE PARK: Totems - Life in British Columbia

Location(s): John P. Crabb Gallery (Pavilion Gallery Museum)

Walter J. Phillips’ first visit to the west coast was in 1927 and he eventually moved there in 1960. He went on many visits to villages such as Karlukwees, Village Island, and Mamallilicoola. It is there he produced “Ten Canadian Colour Prints”.

In his Figurescapes, Ivan Eyre began opening up "table-top" still lives by cutting an opening to view the landscape beyond.

The 12th Annual Rural and Northern Art Show

Location(s): Pavilion Gallery Museum (Clarence Tillennius Gallery)

This annual exhibition features award-winning artworks in a variety of media selected from works submitted to the Regional Juried Art Shows held across Manitoba each year. The show provides an opportunity for artists in the northern and rural regions of the province to present their work to an urban audience.

Assiniboine Park Shoreline Cleanup

Location(s): Assiniboine Park (meet at south side of Assiniboine River footbridge)

9:00 am to 12:00 pm

The Great Canadian Shoreline Cleanup is a national program that provides Canadians with the opportunity to make a difference in their local communities. It is one of the largest direct action conservation programs, as well as the most significant contributor to the International Coastal Cleanup in Canada.

Journey to Churchill Zoo Caching Event

Location(s): Assiniboine Park Zoo

12:00 pm to 6:00 pm

Hosted by Skoki and friends at Beaverlodge School, the Assiniboine Park Zoo and the Manitoba Geocaching Association, this event will begin with an introduction to the GPS and geocaching. GPS units will be available for those who don't have one and would like to find out more about this fun and addictive family friendly activity. Several new caches will be unveiled and made available for finding throughout the Zoo area for this event.
