1. Fill out an online application.
We are now accepting applications for the 2016 season. You can complete your application before or after attending an information session.
2. Attend an information session.
The information session is a brief overview of our program. At this session we will discuss eligibility criteria, the application process and other important information.
3. Complete a face to face interview.
The interview will help us determine the right fit for you. Unfortunately, due to the high number of applications received, not all applicants will be accepted.
4. Complete background checks.
If you are 18 years of age and older, a police record check and a child abuse registry form is required. The cost will be covered by the Assiniboine Park Conservancy. Volunteer Resources will perform a personal reference check.
5. Begin your training
with an online website scavenger hunt and a park-wide scavenger hunt.
6. Attend a classroom orientation.
Once you are sure that you are interested in this volunteer opportunity, you must also attend a classroom orientation. The classroom orientation will include an overview of our policies, procedures, a more detailed look at your role as a volunteer and customer service training.
7. Participate in a Zoo training session
as well as other site specific training. Experienced volunteers will prepare you for your volunteer roles in the Zoo and Park through practical training sessions.
