A unique 1960's inspired event in support of Canada's Diversity Gardens at Assiniboine Park.
Over 400 guests enjoyed an incredible evening of music, entertainment, lively conversation and culinary epicurean delights while being transported back to the 60’s at the Imagine Garden Party in the stunning Leo Mol Sculpture Garden in Assiniboine Park August 31.
David Asper welcomed guests on behalf of the Presenting Sponsor The Asper Foundation and shared stories of his family’s long-time love and support for Assiniboine Park .
Highlights of the evening included a gift of $500,000 announced by Susan Glass & Arni Thorsteinson in support of the Imagine a Place
Campaign, the premiere of Hilary Druxman’s Lucky Ladybug necklace, and an exclusive Coal and Canary Candle Company featuring the scents of Assiniboine Park.
Attendees had the opportunity to bid on exclusive Assiniboine Park and Zoo experiences and to support the Assiniboine Park Conservancy’s outreach program in schools and seniors homes, sample decadent desserts from some of Winnipeg’s finest, and enjoy their favourite cocktails from another era.
This year’s event led by Co-chairs Ruth Asper and Lee Meagher raised $116,000, making it the most financially successful Garden Party event in the Assiniboine Park Conservancy’s history. Proceeds raised from the Imagine Garden Party support Canada’s Diversity Gardens.
Proceeds from the Garden Party 2016 will support Canada's Diversity Gardens, the final major phase of the $200 million redevelopment campaign to revitalize and rejuvenate Assiniboine Park.
