Outreach & Sleepovers

Outreach

Assiniboine Park and the Assiniboine Park Zoo have many fabulous opportunities for you to get out and be active. Or, we can come to you! Programming staff offer year-round guided tours, educational workshops, outreach programs and recreation classes.

Nature Tots Hits the Road

Nature TotsWe are taking our popular Nature Tots program on the road! Our Nature Tots workshops are based on the idea that children are naturally curious about the world around them. It is our job to encourage that curiosity through imaginary play, songs, movement, stories, nature-based arts and crafts, and loads of other fun activities.

Each hour-long workshop is broken into short segments that have the children using all their senses to explore the topic of the day. Our enthusiastic facilitators arrive equipped with all the necessary materials to guide the children through an energy packed workshop.

Our 2012 calendar has been designed to reflect the seasons and focuses on appreciating the unique opportunities that every season has to offer. We would be thrilled to come out to your centre to faciliate any of our workshops. Our monthly themes each have four different workshops to choose from and are as follows:

Winter Play (January) Park Play (May) Cool Critters (September)
Be My Valentine (February) Backyard Buddies (June) Costume Party (October)
Spring into Spring (March) Summer Fun (July) Art in the Park (November)
Earth Month (April) Tree of Life (August)

Holiday Celebration (December)

At the end, they will have their own tales to tell as they relate their fascinating trip to friends and family.

All sleepovers run on Friday nights unless otherwise arranged at the Qualico Family Centre's spectacular Acorn Activity Room.
