Fall Equinox Sacred Fire with Knowledge Keeper Cree Crowchild

Join us at the Indigenous Peoples Garden for a Fall Equinox Sacred Fire! Participants will be introduced to historical, spiritual, and contemporary content of Indigenous Peoples of Canada, in particular that of the Cree and Ojibwe Peoples and traditions.
Individuals will also be introduced to the teachings of tobacco, prayer ties, and smudge prayer ceremony. You will receive cloth and tobacco as part of your learning about the teachings of tobacco and its symbolic meaning in creating a bond of reconciliation with all nations.
Each participant will be given the opportunity via this land-based experience to authentically connect their understanding of our collective roles and/or places within the world of reconciliation.
During this sacred fire, the contents of the offering bowl at the bison habitat at the Zoo will be burned.
This event is free and open to all.
