In honour of International Polar Bear Day on Tuesday, February 27, we are thrilled to host a weekend of activities on February 24 and 25 dedicated to learning about polar bears, polar bear research, and how you can help polar bear conservation efforts by reducing your impact on the environment!
Al Simmons Concert

Legendary local children’s entertainer Al Simmons will be singing songs from his latest album, The Whistling Egg Man, including his new song, Polar Bear! With his quick wit, lanky legs, flipper like feet and rubbery face, it's as if he was genetically engineered for comedy. Al Simmons is a creative genius, with the soul of a vaudevillian.
Face Painting with Heather’s Pretty Parties

Face-painters from Heather’s Pretty Parties will be on site, bringing colourful designs and big smiles to the faces of kids of all ages.

Tundra Grill
Join the polar bears for breakfast! No, you are not on their menu. Our bears will enjoy enrichment activities just outside Tundra Grill, while inside you can watch from a safe place and enjoy a selection of delicious breakfast options including Egg in a Paw! (Breakfast is not included with admission).

Chat with members of our volunteer team about some of the amazing animals that live alongside polar bears in the arctic.
Polar Bear Artwork Silent Auction
Stop by Wild Things Unique Gifts at the Zoo entrance and make a bid on a unique work of art created through an animal/human collaboration! Local artist Kal Barteski and Hudson the polar bear worked together to make this beautiful piece that would make an amazing conversation starter in any home. Money raised through the silent auction will support the Assiniboine Park Conservancy's Polar Bear Rescue and Care Fund.
The artwork will be on disply at Wild Things Unique Gifts from February 23 - March 3 and the starting bid is $200.

Pick up a beautiful, hand-crafted polar bear greeting card or a button featuring the Zoo’s own bears. Leave a small donation (recommended $5 for cards and $2 for buttons) to support the Assiniboine Park Conservancy’s Polar Bear Rescue and Care Team fund.
