We Are Winter is a magical 3-day celebration of winter’s beauty and outdoor fun, offering a variety of activities for all ages.

We Are Winter will be a special time to bring our community together in a warm and festive atmosphere, surrounded by sparkling lights and the beauty of the winter landscape.
Enjoy all the FREE programming, winter equipment, and activities We Are Winter has to offer at Assiniboine Park's heart of the Park surrounding the Riley Family Duck Pond.

The following activities will be offered Friday (4 p.m. - 8 p.m.), Saturday (12 p.m. - 8 p.m.), and Sunday (12 p.m. - 8 p.m.) unless otherwise noted. Schedule is subject to change.
Winter Activities
Winter Activities with Winnipeg Trails
- Enjoy a variety of winter activities with equipment from Winnipeg Trails.
- Equipment includes skis for adults and children, sit skis, wheel blades, kick sleds, toboggans, hockey skates, figure skates, and snowshoes.
- Supplies are limited. Use of equipment is subject to availability on a first-come, first-served basis.
SOLD OUT - Sauna in the Park with Backyard Barrel
- Relax and rejuvenate with a free one-hour session in a luxurious cedar barrel sauna.

Skiing & Skating Lessons with Winnipeg Trails
- Enjoy a fun day of learning and confidence building on the ice and snow. Perfect for beginners or anyone who needs a refresher.
- Bring your own equipment or borrow the free rentals (first-come, first-served).
- Register here in advance for one-hour classes or drop in at the Winnipeg Trails desk at the start of each hour.
Ice Bikes with Spark Rentals
- Try a selection of ice-bikes on the Riley Family Duck Pond.
- Supplies are limited. Use of equipment is subject to availability on a first-come, first-served basis.
Live Music with DJ GeNie
- Get your groove on with DJ GeNie.
- Saturday 12:00 pm - 4:00 pm, Sunday 12:00 pm - 8:00 pm.
FREE Hot Chocolate at Cargo Bar
- Enjoy free hot chocolate at Cargo Bar starting at noon on Saturday and Sunday. While quantities last.
- If you're 18+ and looking to upgrade, ask your Cargo Bar server ($).
Guided Snowshoe Tours with the Assiniboine Park Education Team
- Learn about the natural beauty of the Park on a guided 45-minute showshoe tour.
- No experience necessary. Recommended for ages 5+. Children under 18 must be accompanied by an adult.
- Come with boots or good warm shoes, winter layers, and your sense of adventure. We'll have 30 pairs of snowshoes available, or you can bring your own.
- Saturday and Sunday at 1:00 pm and 1:45 pm. Please arrive at least 10 minutes early at the Riley Family Duck Pond shelter.
Special Programming
FRIDAY, January 10
80s Skate & Ski Night (4:00 pm - 8:00 pm)
- Get ready to groove and glide at the ultimate throwback winter party of the season as we take you back to the totally tubular 1980s!
- DJ Lucky Sharms will be spinning the best 80s jams all night long.
- Wear your neon leg warmers, big hair, and boldest ski suits.
- Lace up your skates, strap on your skis, and get ready for a night full of retro fun, rad vibes, and unforgettable memories.
- Performances by drag artists Miss Gender, Edyn Peaches, and Lady Fortuna will take place at 6:00 pm and 7:00 pm on and off the ice.
SATURDAY, January 11
Outdoor Movie Night: Frozen (4:00 pm - 6:00 pm)
- Join special guests Elsa and Anna for a fun-filled night of music, singing, and frozen outdoor fun.
- Watch the movie while skating, in the Duck Pond shelter, from Cargo Bar, or around one of our cozy fire pits. You can also bring your own lawn chairs or blankets!
Miriam Newman and Friends Show (6:00 pm - 8:00 pm)
- Get your toes tapping and hands clapping at Cargo Bar with the Miriam Newman and Friends Show.
- Enjoy fiddling and a festive time for the whole family.
Night Ski for Beginners (6:30 pm - 7:45 pm)
- Join Winnipeg Trails and other beginners for a group night ski around the heart of the Park.
- Register online in advance to reserve your spot.
- Drop-ins are also welcome.
SUNDAY, January 12
Glow Skate (4:00 pm - 8:00 pm)
- Dress in your brightest neon winter gear and glow in the snow accessories to light up the night and create an illuminated winter wonderland.
- Don't miss this chance to enjoy an unforgettable night on the ice, complete with music, lights, and plenty of winter magic.
Food & Beverage
Cargo Bar
- Gather around a crackling fire at this festive outdoor retreat and enjoy a selection of warm beverages, cocktails, mocktails, wine, and craft beer. S'more kits are also available!
- Cargo Bar will have FREE samplers on Friday, January 10 (5:00 pm - 6:00 pm). Samples include Full Geek Brew Lab, Dead Horse Cider, and Patent 5 Distillery.
Park Café
- Park Café offers indoor dining with beautiful views of the surrounding Park. A selection of grab-and-go item are also available at the outdoor treats window, which is accessible from the Duck Pond.
- Open 9:00 am - 4:00 pm with regular menu and table service.
- Open 4:00 pm - 8:00 pm with counter service and a special We Are Winter menu.
Mini Donuts Food Truck
- Serving hot mini donuts and sweet steamy apple cider.
