Exploring the Edible Mushrooms of Manitoba

Join naturalist and mushroom enthusiast Donna Kurt as she details how to identify the edible mushrooms of Manitoba, including morels, chanterelles, boletes, chicken of the woods, and honey mushrooms, and how to distinguish their toxic look-alikes. This workshop will include tips and techniques on successfully foraging for mushrooms.
About the Facilitator
Donna Kurt gained knowledge from 40 years of outdoor experience, leading hundreds of canoe camping trips, backpacking trips, and related exposure. She has studied mushrooms, plants, lichens, mosses, etc., through biology, mycology, ecology, ethnobotany, and food systems courses offered at the University of Winnipeg and the University of Manitoba since 2015. Donna also received an International Permaculture Design certificate in 2017 through the University of Manitoba and gained experience from mushroom workshops and forays led by Dr. David Punter of the University of Manitoba.
She wants to share her knowledge and foster community after leading many mushroom workshops and forays. She is one of the founding members of the Manitoba Mushroom Society.
