Park Explorer's Club - Honk If You Love Geese
The Canada goose - bold, loud, and fiercely protective. But what makes this iconic Canadian bird tick?
Learn about the Canada goose, how to avoid conflict with them, and observe goose behaviour with wildlife expert and Park educator, Barret Miller!
Geared towards outdoor enthusiasts and learners of all ages, explorers will enjoy an interactive presentation on a variety of topics, including:
- Ecology, biology, and life cycle
- Why nesting geese are defensive
- Goose body language
- How to avoid human-goose conflict
- How to humanely manage aggressive goose encounters, keeping both people and birds safe
If the weather allows, we'll go for a walk outside to observe goose behaviour.
Please note that while this workshop is mostly indoors, be prepared for a short time outside with up to 1 km of movement on easy-to-moderate terrain. For additional accommodations, contact education@assiniboinepark.ca.
