Babs Asper Display House
Welcome to The Leaf’s newest display, Blooms in Winter: An Orchid Celebration!
As you enter the Babs Asper Display House, you will walk through a beautiful orchid tunnel. In the centre, two stunning orchid trees stand as living works of art, allowing visitors to admire the beauty of orchids up close. These orchid trees showcase a variety of colours, shapes, and fragrances. Blooms in Winter: An Orchid Celebration features 1200 orchids, a variety of Phalaenopsis, Cymbidium, mini-Cymbidium, Vanda, and Tolumnia Orchids. This colourful display emphasizes the beauty and diversity of orchids and offers perfect photo opportunities as you pass through.
With over 15 million years of history and 29,000 species worldwide, orchids thrive in diverse environments, from forests and wetlands to mountains and grasslands. Their survival depends on specific fungi for germination, and their shapes, colours, and scents have evolved to attract specialized pollinators. These delicate relationships make orchids especially vulnerable to habitat changes, highlighting the need for their conservation. Their stunning variety in form, colour, and fragrance offers a beautiful sensory experience, inviting people to appreciate the richness and diversity of the orchid world.
