Camps at Assiniboine Park & Zoo

Camps at Assiniboine Park, The Leaf, and the Zoo are perfect for children who love nature, animals, art and adventure!

Enjoy a one-of-a-kind adventure and non-stop fun at the Park! We offer in-service camps, spring break and winter camp, and weekly summer camps in July and August.

We encourage you to register your camper online through CampBrain but if you require a different option, please visit our Registration Options page.

Camp Refund and Cancellation Policy

  • Due to program popularity and limited space available, we ask that you cancel at least ten (10) business days prior to the start of the program for a 90% refund of the program fee.
  • Cancellations with less than ten (10) business days’ notice receive a refund of 75% of the program fee.
  • No refunds will be given for cancellations with less than two (2) business days’ notice.
  • We reserve the right to cancel any camp due to lack of registered participants. A refund will be issued if the Education and Programs Department cancels your program.

In-Service Camps at The Leaf and Zoo

When school is out, spend the day at Assiniboine Park and Zoo! In-service camps offer one day of fun-filled activities and exploration. Campers explore nature, learn about plants and animals, play games, and make new friends. We are always mindful of the weather but enjoy spending time inside and outside, so please come dressed appropriately and prepared for some fun!

Let’s celebrate all that the Earth has to share. Learning about our connection to living and non-living things, we will renew our roles as stewards of the Earth and remember why our world is so great.

Explore the world of plants and look for ways we can take action to help our planet in a series of fun adventures around the Leaf. It will be a celebration of plants and people as we discover the value of connecting to nature.

Spring Break Camps

Snow, slush, showers, or sun, come to the Park and Zoo for fun! Campers will have a blast making new friends at Camp Assiniboine Park! Campers will enjoy art projects, games, exploration, and free play to help us engage and build upon our appreciation for nature. Our amazing adventures will have campers seeing the sights as we explore the Park, The Leaf, and the Zoo. It’s time to dress for the weather and excitement!

Registration Information

Join us for our upcoming 2025 Spring Break Camp! Explore the Zoo, Park and The Leaf, learn more about different aspects to spring, and enjoy a variety of fun games and activities. Pick and choose which days you want to come!

Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday: Camp days will start and end at Assiniboine Park Zoo but will go into the Park as well.
Wednesday: Camp day will start and end at The Leaf.

Camp Day Descriptions
Monday, March 31: Jungle Journey at the Zoo
Explore the different forests and jungle right here in the Zoo! Plus, learn about the animals that call them home.

Tuesday, April 1: Fancy Feet at the Zoo
Why do some animals have webbed feet and other hooves? Discover how animals get around and are adapted for different environments.

Wednesday, April 2: Floral Frenzy at The Leaf
Join us as we discover what’s in bloom at The Leaf! After exploring the indoor biomes, we will make a tasty snack to eat.

Thursday, April 3: Spring Cleaning at the Zoo
Out with the old and in with the new! We're learning about what animals look for when finding a home and how they prepare for the spring season.

Friday, April 4: Circle of Life at the Zoo
Fast or slow we all grow. On our last day of camp, we're learning about animal lifecycles. Discover what animals look like at different stages in life and what they need to grow.

Summer Camp at The Leaf and Zoo

School is out and summer is in at Camp Assiniboine Park! Our summer camps focus on recreation, friendship, teamwork, art, and environmental science. Summer camps offer opportunities to spend time outdoors and explore nature with experienced staff and fun activities. Camps offer one set of themed activities for the month of July, and a different set of themed activities for August. No matter which month you attend, campers will have a funtastic week!

CAMP DESCRIPTIONS

Wild Jobs
Weeks 2 – 5 (July 7 - 11, July 14 - 18, July 21 - 25, July 28 – August 1)
Ever wonder how we take care of the animals at the Zoo or keep the Park looking beautiful? Wonder no more! Campers will step into our world and through activities and observations, learn from staff on what goes into caring for our space and the bigger contributions we make to the Park and Zoo world. (This camp will not visit The Leaf, but we will visit other parts of Assiniboine Park.)

Tracks and Traces
Weeks 6 – 9 (August 5 - 9, August 11 - 15, August 18 - 22, August 25 – 29)
Discover the signs of nature at Assiniboine Park and Zoo! Campers will be searching for signs of wildlife and animal communication and learning along the way. We’ll examine real animal artifacts and learn about how local wildlife has evolutionarily adapted to catch prey and escape predators. (This camp will not visit The Leaf, but we will visit other parts of Assiniboine Park.)

ZOO CAMP EXCLUSIVE - PRE-ORDER YOUR LUNCH

Zoo campers now have the option to pre-order lunch when registering for camp. Pre-purchased lunches are supplied from Tundra Grill and are nut-free.

  • We are not able to accommodate allergies or dietary restrictions.
  • Lunches will be a set pre-determined menu but will include a combination of sandwiches, pizza, burger, etc... accompanied by veggies, cookies, chips, and fruit, with juice throughout the week.
  • Cost: $90.00 +GST per week per camper (Week 6 (August 5-8) price will be $72.00 + GST per camper

Viva la Local (Long Live Local)
Weeks 2 – 5 (July 7 - 11, July 14 - 18, July 21 - 25, July 28 – August 1)
Let’s explore our home-grown roots!  We’ll be eating our way through what grows here in Manitoba, plus the benefits and challenges that come with it. Campers will enjoy tasty seasonal snacks. (This camp will not visit Assiniboine Park Zoo, but we will visit other parts of Assiniboine Park.)

Nature’s Pantry
Weeks 6 – 9 (August 5 - 9, August 11 - 15, August 18 - 22, August 25 – 29)
Nature is full of nourishment, from what we eat to fuel ourselves, to the native herbs and remedies we use to support our health. Campers will discover the importance of plants and what they have to offer others. We will create, communicate, and taste our way through The Leaf’s plant cupboard. (This camp will not visit Assiniboine Park Zoo, but we will visit other parts of Assiniboine Park.)
