Camps at Assiniboine Park & Zoo
Camps at Assiniboine Park, The Leaf, and the Zoo are perfect for children who love nature, animals, art and adventure!
Enjoy a one-of-a-kind adventure and non-stop fun at the Park! We offer in-service camps, spring break and winter camp, and weekly summer camps in July and August.
We encourage you to register your camper online through CampBrain but if you require a different option, please visit our Registration Options page.
Camp Refund and Cancellation Policy
- Due to program popularity and limited space available, we ask that you cancel at least ten (10) business days prior to the start of the program for a 90% refund of the program fee.
- Cancellations with less than ten (10) business days’ notice receive a refund of 75% of the program fee.
- No refunds will be given for cancellations with less than two (2) business days’ notice.
- We reserve the right to cancel any camp due to lack of registered participants. A refund will be issued if the Education and Programs Department cancels your program.

Summer Camp at the Zoo
Animal encounters, behind-the-scenes adventures, outdoor play, and more are waiting for you at Zoo Camp!
Each week, campers will journey through the Zoo, meet animal ambassadors, go behind-the-scenes with the animal care team, explore nature in Assiniboine Park, and visit the Nature Playground!
Location: Special Events Entrance, Assiniboine Park Zoo (54 Zoo Drive)
Drop-off: 8:00 am - 9:00 am
Pick-up: 4:00 pm - 5:00 pm
Fee per camper per week: $280 + GST*
Provide your camper's membership number and save 10%!
*Week 5 (August 4-7) is a four-day week costing $240 + GST.
Zoo Camp is open to children ages 6 - 13 as of the end of 2026.
Zoo Camp Monthly Themes
July: Junior Adventurers
Get off the beaten path and explore every corner of the Zoo! Campers will dig in, get a little messy, and learn all about forests from around the world and the creatures that roam, climb, fly, and swing from the trees! This wild adventure also leads campers into the forests in Assiniboine Park, where curiosity and exploration are always encouraged.
August: Junior Conservationists
Discover what it really takes to save a species! Campers will dive into the exciting conservation work happening right here at the Zoo. Campers will discover how they can help wildlife survive and thrive - from the tiniest butterfly to the mightiest polar bear - because no one is too small to make a big impact!
Zoo Camper Age Groups
Explorers (Ages 6-7)
Explorers will meet amazing animals up close and even get the chance to feed friendly goats! Thoughtfully planned with little legs in mind, so there’s plenty of fun without too much walking.
Keepers (Ages 8-10)
A bigger adventure for bigger campers! Keepers delve deeper into animal care and create enrichment toys for their favourite animals.
Researchers (Ages 11-13)
Researchers will meet veterinarians, animal care professionals, conservationists, and other experts to get a closer look at what it’s really like to work with animals! Perfect for animal lovers who want to explore exciting careers in wildlife, science, and conservation.
Zoo Camp Lunches
Add on a week of pre-purchased lunches for your camper when you register them for Zoo camp!
All lunches include a main dish, a side dish, a dessert, fruit, and a drink, with varying options throughout the week. Sorry, we are unable to accommodate modifications or allergy adjustments.

Each week, campers will explore the biomes at The Leaf, enjoy hands-on learning and outdoor fun in Assiniboine Park, get creative with sustainable arts and crafts, and more! Perfect for campers who love nature and enjoy a calmer, more relaxed environment for learning and play.

July: Botanical Artisans
Let your creativity shine! Campers will learn hands-on skills like sewing, explore feel-good wellness tools like aromatherapy, and have tons of fun along the way! Get down to earth with art projects using sustainable, natural materials like food scraps, and dive into an adventure that brings you closer to nature.
August: The Art of Nature
Find incredible beauty in nature! Campers will learn the art of nature journaling, observing and recording the natural world through drawing, writing, and reflection. Along the way, campers will express their creativity and deepen their love of nature.

Monday, March 30: Spring in the Arctic - SOLD OUT
Location: Assiniboine Park Zoo
Campers will explore the Zoo and take an exclusive behind-the-scenes journey to meet polar bears and their caregivers!
Have you ever wondered what polar bears are up to in the spring? Where do muskox go when the snow starts to melt? Learn all about the wonders of spring in the Arctic!
Tuesday, March 31: Around the World in One Day - SOLD OUT
Location: Assiniboine Park Zoo
Campers will embark on an adventure to every corner of the Zoo, packed with outdoor fun games, and plenty of time to play!
A quick day trip around the world is no problem for Zoo campers! Travel to Churchill to see polar bears, then head all the way to Asia to spot Amur tigers, and swing by Australia and South America to discover more fascinating creatures.
Wednesday, April 1: Wacky, Wonderful World - SOLD OUT
Location: The Leaf
Celebrate the weird and wacky world of plants! Explore the biomes and discover strange, curious, and fascinating fauna. From the Banyan tree’s network of air roots to the fiery red tip of the torch ginger flower, the weird is beautifully bizarre.
Thursday, April 2: Small but Mighty - SOLD OUT
Location: Assiniboine Park Zoo
Campers will meet some of the smallest (but mightiest!) critters at the Zoo, play outside, and get hands-on with fascinating animal biofacts like furs and skulls! From cockroaches and naked mole rats to blind cavefish, don’t overlook these incredible creatures! Campers will dig deep to uncover the secrets of some of the Zoo’s most curious critters.

Zoo Camp - Seals are the Real Deal | March 20
We can't wait to celebrate International Seal Day with you at Zoo Camp! Campers will explore the Journey to Churchill area and learn about seals and their important role in their ecosystem. We will also have plenty of time to play outside and make new friends.

We're pouncing into an amazing cat-themed day at the Zoo! Campers will learn about Amur tigers and snow leopards with a special behind-the-scenes tour of the tiger habitat. We will also have time to explore the Zoo and play outside.
