The Parent Patch

Workshop - The Parent Patch

The Parent Patch is program that provides a safe and supportive space where postpartum moms and parents with pre-mobile babies can connect with themselves, nature, and others through plant-based activities and socialization. Sessions will include guided walks in the biomes at The Leaf, calming plant activities, and simply being with others also on the path of parenthood. Each week, 15 minutes will be spent on parents' well-being.

Sessions includes coffee and tea. Please bring a re-usable travel mug.

Babes in arms are welcome.

Date: Wednesdays, February 8, 15, 22, and March 1 (four sessions)

Green Cleaning

Workshop - Green Cleaning

Looking for ways to reduce your footprint in 2023? Why not change up the cleaning products you use?

Household cleaners are a significant source of chemical pollution both in our environment and in our homes. Join a facilitator from the Green Action Centre, Manitoba's hub for green living, as they lead a hands-on green cleaning workshop. Participants will make & take their own general cleaner and a geranium hand wash.

Botanical Scrubs and Soaks

Workshop - Botanical Scrubs and Soaks

Join us at The Leaf to learn how to make a sugar scrub and a salt bath soak using essential oils and botanical ingredients. This is a perfect way to help unwind in our own surroundings by using plant ingredients that bring a special degree of relaxation.

Spend a calm afternoon learning about the benefits of herbs, local plants, and essentials oils for our well-being. Participants will make a large jar of a botanical salt bath soak, your choice of scents for a small container of sugar scrub, recipes, and more!

Please dress for the weather as we will venture outside to harvest plants during the winter. Accommodations will be made for those with mobility needs.

Slow Flow Yoga at the Pavilion

Workshop - Slow Flow Yoga at the Pavilion

Instructor Jackie Enberg is certified in Vinyasa Flow and Restorative yoga. In this class we will practice a Slow Flow with restorative pauses/poses. This class is accessible to students of all experiences levels. Jackie has been connected to the Park all her life, growing up close to the park, and as an animal care supervisor, is proud to call the Zoo her career for almost 20 years.

These wildly interactive classes encourage a child’s natural curiosity about the world. We explore nature, art, plants and animals through activities. We provide the snacks and oodles of fun! For children ages 3 – 5 with an adult partner. Please dress for the weather as we will spend time outdoors visiting animals in the Zoo.

This February, we'll explore themes related to rainforests!

This March, we'll be learning about wolves, owls, Canadian cats, and bighorn sheep.

Booking & Cancellation Policies

  • Registration fees are non-refundable (unless the program is cancelled by Assiniboine Park Conservancy).
  • Pre-registration and payment is encouraged to ensure we have sufficient staff and materials for attendees. Sorry, we cannot accept walk-ups unless otherwise specified.
  • Workshops are subject to demand. If enrollment is insufficient, Assiniboine Park Conservancy reserves the right to cancel a workshop up to one week in advance.
