Programs & Workshops
Programs and workshops take place in gorgeous settings surrounded by nature in Assiniboine Park, the Zoo, and The Leaf. Members save 10% on program fees! If you are unable to register online, click here for additional registration options.
The Living Well Program

The Living Well Program enables people living with mild to moderate signs of dementia and their care partners to reap the social and well-being benefits of engaging with plants with the guidance of a practitioner of horticulture therapy.
We cultivate a dementia-friendly community with sensory plant-based activities, fostering social engagement, and guided explorations of The Leaf and outdoor gardens when the weather permits. Every session includes refreshments. All sizes of green and brown thumbs are welcome.
This is a community partner program with the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba
Date: Tuesdays, January 23 - February 27, 2024 (6 sessions)
Time: 2:30 - 4:00 pm

Zoo Tots - From Head to Tail

These wildly interactive classes encourage a child’s natural curiosity about the world!
We explore nature, art, plants and animals through activities. We provide snacks and oodles of fun! Themes in the Head to Tail series include teeth, legs, horns & antlers, and tails.
For children ages 3 – 5 with an adult partner. Please dress for the weather as we will spend time outdoors visiting animals in the Zoo.
Date: Wednesdays, January 31 - February 21 (4 Sessions)
Time: 10:00 am - 11:30 am
Fee: $100.00 + GST
Member Fee: $90.00 + GST

Zoo Tots - Swing, Swim, & Soar

These wildly interactive classes encourage a child’s natural curiosity about the world.
We explore nature, art, plants, and animals through activities. We provide snacks and oodles of fun! Themes in the Swing, Swim & Soar series include climbers, fliers, camels, swimmers & seals.
For children ages 3 – 5 with an adult partner. Please dress for the weather as we will spend time outdoors visiting animals in the Zoo.
Date: Wednesdays, February 28 - March 20 (4 Sessions)

Zoo Tots - Traveling Tots

Slow Flow Yoga at the Pavilion

Instructor Jackie Enberg is certified in Vinyasa Flow and Restorative Yoga. In this class, we will practice a Slow Flow with restorative pauses/poses. This class is accessible to students of all experience levels. Jackie has been connected to the Park all her life, growing up close to the park, and as an animal care supervisor, she is proud to call the Zoo her career for almost 20 years.

Beaded Winter Ornament Workshop

In this beginner-friendly beading workshop, participants will bead a 2.5” diameter ornament, learning flat-stitch and edging techniques. Participants will have a variety of beads to work with and create their own unique snowflake pattern.
Based on feedback from previous beading workshops, this workshop is 4 hours to allow time to finish the project and will have a reduced class size to accommodate a more intimate learning experience and instruction time.
Workshop participants must be over 16 years of age.

Shannon Tara Kraichy (she/her) is a Métis artist, facilitator and anti-racism educator from Winnipeg. She has been beading and creating with fur and leather since 2016, and started her business, Waabishki Miigwan Creations, in January 2021.
Booking & Cancellation Policies
- Registration fees are non-refundable (unless the program or tour is cancelled by Assiniboine Park Conservancy).
- Pre-registration and payment for programs and workshops is encouraged to ensure we have sufficient staff and materials for attendees. Sorry, we cannot accept walk-ups for programs and workshops unless otherwise specified. Walk-ups are welcome for tours, space permitting.
- Programs and workshops are subject to demand. If enrollment is insufficient, Assiniboine Park Conservancy reserves the right to cancel a workshop up to one week in advance.
