It's construction season!

The City of Winnipeg will be undertaking construction on ROBLIN BOULEVARD and ASSINIBOINE PARK DRIVE this summer. We hope the following information and travel tips will make your Park and Zoo visits a little smoother this summer. Visit the City of Winnipeg website to learn more.

  • Construction on Roblin Boulevard - May 13 - late September (estimated)
  • Construction on Assiniboine Park Drive - May 13 - late June (estimated)
  • Timelines are subject to change due to weather delays and other variables.
May 13 - Late September (estimated)

  • Due to lane closures, traffic will be reduced to one lane in each direction from Chalfont Rd. to Shaftsbury Blvd.
  • Entrance and exit points into the Zoo parking lot will be adjusted throughout the project. Entrance and exit points will be identified, and vehicles will be able to access the Zoo from Roblin Blvd.

May 13 -  Late June (estimated)

  • The section of Assiniboine Park Drive from Commissary Road to Zoo Drive will be closed from May 13 to the end of June.
  • There will be no road access during this time for both vehicles and pedestrians. Please use the Trans Canada Trail for bicycles, rollerblades and walking/jogging.
  • The Leo Mol Sculpture Garden can be accessed through the English Garden main entrance at the Boy with the Boot statue, across from the Duck Pond. Access from the Trans Canada Trail along the river to the Sculpture Garden will be closed.
  • The parking lot near Qualico Family Centre can be accessed via Zoo Drive.
  • During this time, the pedestrian path along the north Zoo fence beside Assiniboine Park Drive will be closed.

    • If at all possible, access the Park and Zoo from the east using Wellington or Corydon/Roblin, or from the south using Shaftesbury.
    • If coming from the west, consider adjusting your route and approaching from Shaftesbury. You can go straight into the Park at the intersection of Shaftesbury and Roblin/Corydon or turn left and approach the Zoo entrance from the east.
    • Exit the Park at Shaftesbury or Wellington.
    • Walk, bike or take Winnipeg Transit. Bus service will continue as usual throughout the construction period.
