Corporate Social Responsibility

The Assiniboine Park Conservancy is committed to serving the needs of our community by providing free and accessible greenspace and visitor amenities year-round at the Park in balance with and supported by admission-based attractions and event-based fundraising initiatives. As part of our corporate social responsibility commitment, we have implemented the following initiatives and will continue to look for ways to remove financial barriers to fee-based attractions and experiences for those with the greatest need.

Wildest Dreams

 - Wildest Dreams

In 2014, we hosted the inaugural Wildest Dreams event at Assiniboine Park Zoo to provide children facing health and/or socio-economic challenges with a once-in-a-lifetime experience at the Zoo. Each year, we work with community organizations to welcome approximately 1,500 guests who enjoy complimentary admission, refreshments, and a memorable array of special activities and entertainment. Through sponsor support, the event has also raised funds for the ParkShare Today initiative.

LifeTime at The Leaf

 - LifeTime at The Leaf

This new program commenced in 2023 and is delivered in partnership with community organizations that serve older adults facing financial, transportation or socialization barriers. Each month, 20-30 program participants enjoy a facilitated experience at The Leaf. A food component is incorporated into each session in acknowledgement of food insecurity issues experienced by some older adults.

ParkShare

 - ParkShare

ParkShare is a donor-funded program created to break down barriers for under-resourced children, youth, and senior groups and make Park programming experiences more accessible to those with the greatest need and the fewest resources. Donors can make an immediate impact by supporting the ParkShare Today Fund or invest in the future of the program with a gift to the ParkShare Endowment Fund.

Community Access Vouchers

 - Community Access Vouchers

Vouchers offering free admission to the Assiniboine Park Zoo or The Leaf are distributed annually through formal partnerships with the United Way and other community agencies to support individuals facing health and socio-economic challenges. A limited number of vouchers are retained by the Conservancy for distribution to other non-profit or charitable organizations upon request. Donated vouchers may also be used as prizes for fundraising initiatives (e.g. silent auctions or raffles) that support programs and services for those in our community with the greatest need. 22,500 vouchers will be distributed in 2024.
