Beading Basics and Artist Talk

Learn the basics of beading with Métis artist Shannon Tara Kalić. Join us for one, two, or all three upcoming workshops to explore different beading techniques and learn about art and Métis culture from Shannon. Skills learned in these classes can be used in a wide variety of beading projects and are helpful for progressing to more advanced beading workshops.
SESSION ONE: OCTOBER 27
Learn the basics of flat stitch beading, also known as bead embroidery. Participants will have ample time to explore both one- and two-needle techniques, enjoy a cup of tea, and listen to Shannon discuss "Rich history, culture, and identity of the Métis."
SESSION TWO: NOVEMBER 3
Learn the basics of beaded edging, which is often the finishing step of projects, or used on its own. Participants will have ample time to explore one-bead, picot, ladder edges and more, enjoy a cup of tea, and listen to Shannon discuss "What really is Indigenous art?"
SESSION THREE: NOVEMBER 10
