Workshop - Guided Meditation and Sound Bath | June 4

Experience deep relaxation and renewal with a guided meditation and restorative sound bath.

This immersive wellness experience will guide participants into a meditative state of deep relaxation, allowing the vibrations from the instruments to reduce stress, calm the nervous system, and promote overall well-being. The sound bath will feature Tibetan singing bowls, gongs, Koshi chimes and crystal singing bowls.

This experience is designed with a trauma-informed, decolonized approach to well-being, focusing on inclusivity and care while creating a safe, deeply restorative experience. Rooted in traditional wellness practices, this session acknowledges the diverse experiences of participants and prioritizes accessibility, cultural awareness and mindful facilitation.

This workshop is beginner-friendly and accessible to all. Please wear comfortable clothing, bring a yoga mat and a blanket, and something to cover your eyes.

About the Instructor
Noor is a trauma-informed sound healer, yoga teacher, and wellness practitioner who offers deeply grounding and heart-opening sound bath experiences. With training in both Eastern and Indigenous sound healing traditions, her sessions guide participants into deep states of rest and inner awareness. Rooted in a decolonized approach to wellness, Noor’s work honors the ancient lineages of healing while creating an inclusive and safe space for all. Her background in psychology and social work informs her compassionate facilitation style, inviting you to slow down, reconnect with your body, and access your own innate wisdom. Whether you’re new to sound healing or a seasoned meditator, Noor’s sessions offer a sanctuary of stillness where transformation begins.

Explore the Park with your little one and get closer to nature!

Designed for kids ages 3 – 5 and their adult companions, each session is packed with outdoor play, wildlife encounters and observation, and engaging activities that spark wonder and joy.

We'll explore the natural world through fun facts, stories, songs, movement, and messy outdoor adventures, building confidence, connection, and resilience along the way.

Come dressed for the weather, ready to roam, and don't forget a snack and water bottle for you and your little one!

Workshop - Nature Tots: Art Adventures | May 21 - June 25

Does your child love getting lost in a craft? Is your fridge door an exhibition of fine art?

Nature Tots: Art Adventures is a preschool program for children ages 3 – 6 and their adult companion, exploring nature and creativity through stories, songs, movement, and play indoors and out.

Participants will meet in the Pavilion Art Galleries and wander inside and outside, using that day's weather as a guide. Each week features a seasonal nature-based theme and you'll leave with new skills, knowledge, and shared memories.

This program will feature art in different forms - some will be take-home projects, and some will be temporary outdoor creative installations, such as rock art and snow painting. Natural materials and processes will weave through everything we do.

Please dress for the weather and bring a snack and a water bottle for yourself and your little one.

Get ready to roll up your sleeves, get a little messy, and start your very own veggie garden inspired by The Leaf!

Young gardeners will explore the biomes on a guided tour, uncovering the secrets to planting, growing, and caring for their own garden at home. Along the way, you'll learn how delicious veggies make the journey from garden to plate, and why homegrown food tastes extra special!

The experts at The Leaf have selected a variety of veggies and herbs for you to plant and nurture at home all summer long. Kids will leave with eight different vegetable seedlings or seeds in a take home container - everything you need to start growing food at home!

This workshop is designed for kids ages 6 - 10 with an adult companion.

Shake, stir, and sip your way into demystifying the art of cocktail-making with Patent 5 Distillery & Tasting Room.

You will learn how to make three classic cocktails, exploring the techniques, philosophy, and history behind each perfectly balanced drink. Each creation will incorporate fresh ingredients grown at The Leaf.

All tools and ingredients are provided, and participants will take home recipe cards to make the drinks at home. Participants must be 18 years or older. Please plan a safe way home with a designated driver, taxi, or rideshare service.

Savour summer nights at The Leaf with live music, immersive garden tours, and irresistible wood-fired focaccia.

Join us for a delightful evening in The Kitchen Garden at The Leaf, where you'll immerse yourself in the world of herbs and heirloom veggies.

Throughout the evening, you can take part in guided tours to learn about what's growing in our Kitchen Garden, and savour the taste of homemade focaccia baked in our wood fire oven courtesy of Prairie Bread Lab's Jared Ozuk. Each evening, we will feature a performance by a local musician, adding a vibrant soundtrack to your garden experience. Schedule coming soon!

Join us for an unforgettable evening that celebrates the vibrant connection between garden, kitchen, and plate.

Your night begins with a botanical beverage to enjoy on your guided tour of our lush Kitchen Garden. Here, our knowledgeable educator will offer insight into what’s currently growing - from heirloom vegetables to unique herbs - and share how they inspire and supply our Gather kitchens.

Following this immersive exploration, you’ll be invited to our communal harvest table inside the restaurant. In this warm and welcoming setting you'll enjoy a curated 6 - 7 course menu with wine and cocktail pairings featuring the freshest ingredients from our gardens, and complemented by some of Gather's signature dishes. Each dish will be presented by our chefs who will share the stories behind the ingredients and the creative inspiration behind each course.

As the gardens evolve with the seasons, so too will the menu, offering a new and exciting experience at every dinner.

Please note: The menu will be the chef's choice and will change for each event. We kindly ask that guests inform us of any allergies or dietary preferences at the time of booking. Non-alcoholic drink pairings are available upon request.

In the event of poor weather, visitors will tour The Leaf's stunning indoor biomes, where you'll discover global plants that play a role in shaping the flavours of our cuisine.

Take your animal photography to the next level in this hands-on workshop at the Zoo!

This is a rare opportunity to develop your photography skills early in the morning when the animals are most active, and the Zoo is still closed to the public.

Wayne Hewitt, an experienced Zoo photographer, will be your expert guide. Wayne will share techniques for taking stunning photos of animals in their enclosures, including proper camera settings, framing and composition, and how to take advantage of available light.

Please bring your own camera and dress for the weather. Your ticket includes Zoo admission, and you are welcome to stay in the Zoo after the workshop to continue honing your skills.

About the Instructor
Instructor Jackie Enberg is certified in Vinyasa Flow and Restorative yoga. Jackie has been connected to the Park all her life, growing up close to the park, and as an animal care curator, is proud to call the Zoo her career for almost 20 years.

Workshop - The Art of Collage and Printmaking | May 23

Explore the playful possibilities of collage and printmaking in this hands-on, mixed media workshop led by artist Brandi Shabaga.

Participants will experiment with mono-printing and collage techniques to design and create a one-of-a-kind mini canvas to take home and display. This relaxed, creative session is perfect for beginners. Come make, layer, and print!

No prior art experience required; all materials provided.

About the Instructor
Brandi Shabaga is a contemporary mixed media artist and earth scientist from Winnipeg. Working primarily in acrylic paint and gel mediums, she enjoys experimenting with her art by incorporating elements of mono-printing and collage into her mixed media pieces; melding together influences of bold pop and graphic arts with a loose, abstract expressionistic painting style.

Join Jared Ozuk from the Prairie Bread Lab to learn the art of making delicious sourdough from scratch!

Get ready to roll up your sleeves as you learn to shape, score, and bake your own mini sourdough loaf. By the end of this workshop, you will have the skills to successfully make your own sourdough starter and loaves to enjoy at home!

Topics covered during this workshop:

  • Sourdough starter maintenance and readiness indicators
  • Base formula for dough
  • Fermentation management and sensory indicators for judging dough readiness
  • Techniques including timing, mixing, folding, scoring, and shaping
  • Dutch oven baking techniques
  • Set up a home baking environment to reproduce the workshop bread at home

Participants will leave with printed handouts to help them replicate the bread at home.

About the Instructor
Jared Ozuk has been baking bread for over 30 years, from commercial ovens to home sourdough. He worked at a high-volume Italian bakery producing Italian-style breads, buns, and bagels, and was head baker at an artisan bakery that milled its own grains and baked sourdough in a wood-fired oven.

  • Registration fees are non-refundable (unless the program or tour is cancelled by Assiniboine Park Conservancy).
  • Pre-registration and payment for programs and workshops is encouraged to ensure we have sufficient staff and materials for attendees. Sorry, we cannot accept walk-ups for programs and workshops unless otherwise specified. Walk-ups are welcome for tours, space permitting.
  • Programs and workshops are subject to demand. If enrollment is insufficient, Assiniboine Park Conservancy reserves the right to cancel a workshop up to one week in advance.
