Slow Flow Yoga with Jackie Enberg | January - June

Stretch and flow with Assiniboine Park's own Jackie Enberg in this weekly slow-flow practice, featuring restorative pauses and poses.
This class is accessible to students of all experience levels.
Please bring a yoga mat, blanket, and any yoga supports you may need.
About the Instructor
Instructor Jackie Enberg is certified in Vinyasa Flow and Restorative yoga. Jackie has been connected to the Park all her life, growing up close to the park, and as an animal care curator, is proud to call the Zoo her career for almost 20 years.

Saturday Guided Snowshoe | January 10 - February 28

Join our Saturday afternoon guided snowshoe adventures at Assiniboine Park!
A member of our Education and Programming team will guide you through one of Manitoba's iconic winter wonderlands, while educating you along the way.
We will provide snowshoes, but you are welcome to bring your own if you prefer.
Please arrive dressed and ready to spend 90 minutes outside. Children under 18 must be accompanied by a registered adult.
Guided snowshoes will be 1-3km in length.
For safety and ground-related reasons, guided snowshoe hikes may transition to on-foot hikes if necessary.

Make some tracks and find out how to read animal tracks as snowshoes carry you across the landscape! We'll help you interpret animal tracks and signs, share some tracking secrets with you, and leave you with a new appreciation for Winnipeg's winter biodiversity.

Celebrate Superb Owl weekend at Assiniboine Park! There might be a big football game south of the border the next day, but we'll be taking in the owl action heating up in the Park on Saturday night.

February 14 - February Takes Flight!

Love won't be the only thing in the air this Valentine's Day! Bundle up and explore the birds that make winter special in Assiniboine Park. We'll be checking in on our feathered neighbours and finding out what birds eat to stay warm.

Our snowshoes will be our time machines as we explore the woods and fields, past and present, in Assiniboine Park. Step back in time and learn about how the Park has evolved over the years.
February 28 - Squirrelled Away

We'll be exploring the life of one of the more entertaining wild Park neighbours - grey and red squirrels! Find out how these creatures survive and thrive in a Manitoban winter.

Weather Policy
Saturday Guided Snowshoeing will proceed snow, rain, or shine. We will only cancel in the case of extreme weather.
Cancellation will be determined by 8:30 am the day of. Registered participants will be contacted by e-mail if they would like to exchange for a different day.
Nature Tots: Art Adventures | January 29 - February 19

Is your fridge door an exhibition of fine art? Does your little one love outdoor adventures? Nature Tots: Art Adventures is designed for crafty kids ages 3 - 6 who love getting creative and exploring nature!
We will meet inside at the Pavilion art galleries, then wander outside in Assiniboine Park using the day's weather as our guide. Each week will feature a new nature-based theme, an imaginative craft using natural materials, outdoor play, temporary outdoor art installations, and more.
We will explore nature and creativity through stories, songs, movement, and play.
This program will take place primarily outdoors. Please dress for the weather! Bring your own water bottle and snacks as needed. All children must be accompanied by an adult.

Do you love spending time outside, observing wildlife, and learning about the natural world? Join the club! The Park Explorer's Club will meet monthly to learn and explore.
February 16 | Canadian Icons Park Walk
Take a walk in Assiniboine Park while learning about Canadian history and iconic Canadian wildlife on Louis Riel Day!
Geared towards outdoor enthusiasts and learners of all ages, wildlife expert and Park educator, Barret Miller, will guide explorers through the Park, sharing historical fun facts and insights into the Park's thriving wildlife.
Why would Manitoba maples play hockey in the Western Hockey League and not in the Ontario Hockey League? Are beavers as fierce as they are cooperative? How do chickadees thrive all winter long? Discover the answers to all these questions and more along our walking trails.
Please dress for the weather and bring your curiosity!

March 14 | The Modern Zoo
Join us at the Zoo to learn about the role of a modern zoo plays in education, conservation, and more!
Geared towards outdoor enthusiasts and learners of all ages, explorers will enjoy a guided tour of the Zoo focused on the species we are working to save from extinction, endangered species, and habitat conservation.
Get a behind-the-scenes look at our modern Zoo operations and discover what it takes to be an accredited institution with the Association of Zoos and Aquariums. You'll learn about our education and conservation programs, how we care for the animals, and how we strive to connect people to the natural world to inspire conservation action.
Please note that Zoo admission is not included with this workshop. Please dress for the weather, as this workshop is primarily outdoors.

April 7 | Honk If You Love Geese
The Canada goose - bold, loud, and fearcily protective. But what makes this iconic Canadian bird tick?
Learn about the Canada goose, how to avoid conflict with them, and observe goose behaviour with wildlife expert and Park educator, Barret Miller!
Geared towards outdoor enthusiasts and learners of all ages, explorers will enjoy an interactive presentation on a variety of topics including:
- Ecology, biology, and life cycle
- Why nesting geese are defensive
- Goose body language
- How to avoid human-goose conflict
- How to humanely manage aggressive goose encounters, keeping both people and birds safe
If weather allows, we'll go walk outside to observe goose behaviour.

Discover the joy of nature journaling with the Park Explorer's Club!
Geared towards outdoor enthusiasts and learners of all ages, explorers will adventure through the Park while learning about nature journaling, a creative way to explore and record observations through drawing, writing, and mindful observation.
This practice helps us slow down, engage our senses, and experience the outdoors in new and meaningful ways.
All supplies will be provided, including a small notebook for each participant to take home. Feel free to bring your own materials and a comfortable lawn chair. Wagons are available to help transport supplies and chairs.

The Living Well Program | February 2 - March 9

The Living Well Program invites individuals living with early to moderate signs of dementia and their care partners to enjoy hands-on plant-based activities, guided explorations of The Leaf, and the simple pleasure of sharing time in a welcoming community.
Led by a horticultural therapy practitioner, each session offers opportunities to spark creativity, encourage social connections, and experience the calming benefits of nature. Refreshments are provided, and no gardening experience is needed.
This program is in partnership with the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba.

Introduction to Linocut | February 7

Discover the art of linocut and create your own botanical-themed stamp in this beginner-friendly workshop.
Award-winning artist Corah Enns will teach you how to design, carve, and print your unique linocut stamp, inspired by the Dwarf Cavendish Banana tree at The Leaf.
The introductory session covers transferring a design to the block and safely handling carving tools with confidence. All supplies provided, participants must be 16 years or older.
About the Facilitator
Corah Enns (A Pointed Art WPG) is an award-winning Winnipeg-based artist and educator. Working primarily in printmaking and ink drawing, she has exhibited her work at Heritage Winnipeg, the Winnipeg Living Prairie Museum, the Forum Art Centre, Martha Street Studio, and Mentoring Artists for Women's Art. She is a member of the Manitoba Society of Artists.

Homebrewing Beer 101: Hop into Spring! | February 12

Join Barret Miller, brewing instructor and Manitoba's open-fire brewing guy, for a beginner-friendly home brewing workshop!
Learn how to prepare and brew the equivalent of a 24-pack of traditional spring wheat beer in just 90 to 120 minutes. During the workshop, you’ll also get to touch, smell, and taste different malt samples you can use in future batches.
With warmer weather approaching, now is the perfect time to brew a batch of light, refreshing beer that will be ready to enjoy all summer long.
You'll leave this workshop with an equipment checklist and two recipes to continue brewing at home.

Let your little one's curiosity run wild in these playful, hands-on classes at the Zoo!
Together, we'll explore the natural world through fun facts, stories, songs, movement, and messy outdoor adventures—building confidence, connection, and resilience along the way.
Each session, we'll play outside, experience animal encounters and observation, and participate in activities that spark wonder and joy.
Geared for children ages 3 - 5 with an adult companion. We will spend time outside visiting the animals at the Zoo, so please dress for the weather.
Your ticket includes Zoo admission for ONLY the participating child plus one accompanying adult. Do not bring extra adults.

Booking & Cancellation Policies
- Registration fees are non-refundable (unless the program or tour is cancelled by Assiniboine Park Conservancy).
- Pre-registration and payment for programs and workshops is encouraged to ensure we have sufficient staff and materials for attendees. Sorry, we cannot accept walk-ups for programs and workshops unless otherwise specified. Walk-ups are welcome for tours, space permitting.
- Programs and workshops are subject to demand. If enrollment is insufficient, Assiniboine Park Conservancy reserves the right to cancel a workshop up to one week in advance.
