Every year volunteers contribute thousands of hours to the Park and Zoo. Volunteers come from all walks of life and enjoy rewarding volunteer experiences that recognize their unique skills and interests.

Volunteer at the Zoo, The Leaf, the Park or for special events! Volunteers have the choice to enjoy any or all of our venues and events.

We offer flexible schedules and a welcoming environment that recognizes the essential role volunteers play in our organization. Comprehensive and ongoing training will take place on site.

ZOO LIGHTS - Call for volunteers

Join us this holiday season at Zoo Lights as a volunteer from November 22 - January 5, 2025.

Group Volunteering

Group Volunteering opportunities are currently closed for the Winter season. We will be accepting applications again in the Spring of 2025 - thank you for your interest!

Volunteers Will:

learn new skills
meet new people
support a wide range of activities
contribute to the exciting growth at Assiniboine Park and Zoo

Volunteers Do Not:

feed or handle animals

Volunteers Must:

make a long-term commitment. We do not offer one-time or short-term opportunities with the exception of special events like Boo at the Zoo and Zoo Lights. A minimum commitment of 60 hours per year is required.
be prepared to walk and stand outdoors when volunteering at the Park and Zoo. Accommodations can be made - the Zoo and Park are mobility aid friendly.
be prepared for warm temperatures and standing on hard surfaces when volunteering at The Leaf.
