Birthday Parties
Celebrate your birthday at the Zoo's Tundra Grill & Polar Playground! Birthday parties are available year-round, seven days a week (subject to availability.)
Daytime Birthday Parties
Daytime parties are 1.5 hours long and available in the following time slots:
- 10:00 am – 11:30 am
- 11:00 am – 1:00 pm*
- 11:45 am – 1:15 pm
- 1:00 pm – 3:00 pm*
- 1:30 – 3:00 pm
*Time slots are only available on Sundays.
Cost (Members ages 3+): $36 per person plus GST, PST, and gratuity
Cost (Non-members ages 3+): $40 per person plus GST, PST, and gratuity
Children ages two and under are always free!
Birthday party size: Min. 8 guests, max. 24 guests per room (seating available for up to 16 guests per room)

Optional daytime activity: Animal Encounter (Sundays only)
Cost: $100 + GST/PST
At the start of your party, a Zoo staff member will provide you and your guests with a 15 – 20-minute meet-and-greet encounter with one of the Zoo's ambassador animals. Animal encounters are subject to availability and require a minimum of two weeks' notice. For the safety of our animals and animal care professionals, no touching of the animals is allowed. We recommend this activity for children ages five and older. Maximum of 20 guests for this activity (adults and children combined.)

After-Hours Birthday Parties
After the Zoo closes its doors, it's time for your after-hours birthday party to begin!
Your party will meet at the Special Events Entry (54 Zoo Drive) and a Tundra Grill staff member will walk you to the Tundra Grill and Polar Playground. Your party will have private access for two hours! Once you wrap up your amazing time, a Tundra Grill staff member will walk you back to the Special Events Entry.
Sorry, you do not access the Zoo during an after-hours party. You will only have access to the Tundra Grill and Polar Playground. Please book your event a minimum of three weeks in advance.
After-hours birthday party time slots:
- March 15 – September 30: 6:00 pm – 8:30 pm
- October 1 – March 14: 5:00 pm – 7:30 pm
Cost:
- Playground & Room Rental: $300 plus GST and PST
- Minimum Food Spend: $500 plus GST, PST, and gratuity
Birthday party size: Max. 100 people, regardless of age.

Optional after-hours activity: Polar Bear Experience
Cost: $200 + GST/PST
Have a beary great party with our Polar Bear Experience! Our team will walk your party to the Gateway to the Arctic building, where one of our animal care professionals will provide you and your guests with a 20 – 30-minute polar bear experience in the Sea Ice Passage. Please note that there is no guarantee that the polar bear will go into the pool or stay for a specific time.

- $10 per bag with 3-4 items
- $20 per bag with 7-8 items
Know Before You Party
Please review the following information before booking your party:
- Dress appropriately for the weather. You will be walking 5-15 minutes outside in the Zoo to the birthday party location. There is no transportation available within the Zoo. It's essential to consider the weather in the winter months.
- Socks are required in the Polar Playground.
- The Tundra Grill staff will process the final payment on the day of the party. We accept credit cards, debit cards, and cash.
- Outside food is not permitted.
- You are welcome to bring a birthday cake, but due to food and safety regulations, cakes must come from a commercial bakery.
- Please inform us in advance of any allergies - we can accommodate most requests.
- Our staff will serve the food to you in your private party room, where you can open presents and have your cake.
- Balloons are not allowed in the Zoo. Review a full list of Zoo rules.
- Please arrive as a group for your birthday parties and come in together.
- Daytime parties - we suggest you arrive 30 minutes before your party start time at the Zoo front entrance (2595 Roblin Blvd) and start walking towards the Tundra Grill 20 minutes before your party start time.
- After-hours parties - we suggest you arrive 15 minutes before your party start time at the Special Events Entry (54 Zoo Drive) and a Tundra Grill staff member will walk you over to the Tundra Grill.
- Our staff will serve your food within 15 minutes of your party's designated start time (daytime parties.)
