Exploring 'Cha' the World of Japanese Tea with Bob Krul
Join Bob Krul from Cornelia Bean as we explore the diverse world of the Camellia sinesis family and examine the unique flavour profile of Japan. This session will highlight the recent strong growth in Japanese teas such as Sen Cha, Genmai Cha, Kuki Cha, Ban Cha, Mat Cha and Hoji Cha.
Japanese teas are grown under shade to push the production of healthy compounds in the tea. In most cases, we will continue to steep the teas as is done traditionally around the world , but the Japanese have perfected the production of catechins, L-theanine, ECGC, and anti-oxidants and prefer to microgrind the entire plant to create a fine powder loaded with healthy character called Matcha.
