Wildlife Rescue and Drop-off Centre

The Assiniboine Park Conservancy is pleased to partner with Wildlife Haven Rehabilitation Centre on a new public drop-off location in Winnipeg where sick or injured wildlife can receive temporary care before being transferred to Wildlife Haven’s facilities in Ile des Chênes.

PLEASE CALL WILDLIFE HAVEN AT 204-202-3806 before attempting to rescue any wild animal. Keep reading for more important information.
 

LOCATION AND HOURS OF OPERATION

Assiniboine Park Zoo
2595 Roblin Boulevard, Winnipeg – west side of parking lot
Open daily from 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
CLOSED December 25 (Christmas Day).

CO-EXISTING WITH WILDLIFE

Assiniboine Park and our surrounding neighbourhoods are home to a variety of urban wildlife species including waterfowl like ducks and geese, songbirds, fox, coyotes, deer, squirrels, rabbits, and more. When visiting the Park, please do your part to keep yourself and wildlife safe. Keep your distance and never feed wild animals.

WILDLIFE RESCUE AND DROP-OFF

If you find an injured or orphaned animal, call Wildlife Haven at 204-202-3806. Their trained staff and volunteers will advise you on whether the animal is eligible for care and what you should do next. Their phone lines are currently open from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., seven days per week.

ANIMALS ELIGIBLE FOR CARE

  • Wildlife Haven is permitted to rehabilitate and care for over 170 species of native Manitoba wildlife including mammals, songbirds, reptiles, raptors, and waterfowl.

MORE INFORMATION

  • Wildlife Haven does NOT accept skunks, raccoons, mice, wolves, bears, fish, invertebrates or hooved animals such as deer, moose or elk. Please contact Manitoba Conservation at 1-800-782-0076 if you find these species in need of care.
  • Wildlife Haven does NOT take in cats, dogs, domesticated animals, exotic reptiles, or invasive species. Please contact the Winnipeg Humane Society at 204-982-2020 for information about their services.

DROP-OFF INSTRUCTIONS

If you find an animal that needs help:

  1. Call Wildlife Haven Rehabilitation Centre at 204-202-3806 for guidance.
  2. Animals eligible for care may be dropped off at the Assiniboine Park Zoo Wildlife Rescue and Drop-off Centre daily from 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
  3. After hours, animals eligible for care can be dropped off at:

               Bridgwater Veterinary Hospital
               100-350 North Town Road, Winnipeg
               Open 24hr/day, 7 days a week
