WINTER ZOOLYMPIC TRAINING CAMP | JANUARY 2 - 5, 2018

Join us for some winter wonderland fun and games at Assiniboine Park and Zoo as we prepare to celebrate the Winter Games. Campers will kick off the new year exploring nature, learning about animals, playing games, and making new friends. Each day, we will enjoy indoor and outdoor activities (weather permitting), and try to make time for skating and/or sledding. Campers who wish to skate must bring their own skates and a helmet.

Sign up for the 4-day week or just the days you need.

WEEKLY FEE: $180 + GST (members save 10%)
DAILY FEE: $50 + GST (member save 10%)
DROP-OFF: 8:00 – 9:00 am at the Qualico Family Centre
PICK-UP: 4:00 – 5:00 pm at the Qualico Family Centre

Day 1 (Tuesday, January 2) | Snow Games
This day is all about celebrating how cool winter is. Campers will participate in our ZOOlympic challenges as they explore parts of the Zoo and meet some cool cats and other animals with incredible athletic abilities. We'll practice for the games, make sure we are in good shape, and spend some time skating or sledding.

Day 2 (Wednesday, January 3) | Around the World
The Winter Games are happening in the Republic of Korea and countries from around the world will be participating. While many Canadians are great at winter sports, we could also use a break from the cold. It is time for our tropical escape to the Conservatory and the Zoo’s Toucan Ridge. Once we are nice and relaxed we will be ready for the games.

Day 3 (Thursday, January 4) | ARTic Designs
Whether it is logos, flags, or the beauty of movement, art is always part of the Olympic experience. Let the Olympic cultures and snow sparkle your imagination as we create our own work of land art in the Assiniboine Park forest. You can add some colour to the season with snow painting and get creative with few other winter activities. We will get some artistic inspiration with a visit to the Zoo.

Day 4 (Friday, January 5) | Dressing for the Games
As we prepare for the games, it is important to dress for the activity as well as the climate. We will take a Journey to Churchill to visit our tundra friends and learn how animals survive and thrive in the cold. We will discover how animals are suited for their environment in the wild and how we can add those adaptations to our own winter equipment.
