Philodendron ‘Burle Marx’ is featured in our new display at The Leaf, Brasil Moderno!

Philodendron cultivar, native to Brazil, is named in honour of Roberto Burle Marx, an environmentalist and prominent figure in Brazilian landscape architecture.

Burle Marx viewed himself as a defender of the natural environment; he believed that nature should be within reach and preserved. His commitment to environmental preservation extended beyond his role as a landscape architect. For Burle Marx, well-designed landscapes not only enhanced visual appeal but also played a crucial role in fostering biodiversity, mitigating environmental impact, and contributing to the overall well-being of communities.

His holistic approach to plant design reflects a deep understanding of the intricate balance between humanmade environments and the natural world.

Appearance: The Philodendron 'Burle Marx' typically features large, glossy, heart-shaped leaves that can grow up to several inches long. The leaves often have a deep green colour with prominent veins. The foliage has a somewhat wavy or rippled texture, adding to its visual appeal.

Growth: Like many Philodendron species and cultivars, 'Burle Marx' is a vining plant. With proper care, it can grow quite large over time, making it a great choice for adding greenery to indoor spaces.

Light and Water Requirements: Philodendron 'Burle Marx' thrives in medium to bright indirect light. It should be kept out of direct sunlight, as this can scorch the leaves. As for watering, it prefers to be kept evenly moist but not waterlogged. Allow the top inch or so of the soil to dry out between waterings.

Temperature and Humidity: This plant prefers warm, humid environments but can adapt to average indoor temperatures.
