Meet Suva (left) and Mei Mei (right), our second pair of red pandas at Assiniboine Park Zoo.

If you're looking to meet Tanvi and Kelly, our red pandas, don't be surprised if you think you're seeing double - two more red pandas have moved in!

Say hi to Suva and Mei Mei, our second red panda pair. They are adjacent to Tanvi and Kelly at the former snow leopard habitat between the Tundra Grill and McFeetors Heavy Horse Centre.

Mei Mei is two years old and was born at the Greater Vancouver Zoo. Her mate Suva is seven years old and was born here at Assiniboine Park Zoo. After being at the Toronto Zoo for a few years, he is back and happily settled into his new space. If Suva's story sounds familiar, it's because he's Tanvi's brother!

Like Kelly and Tanvi, Suva and Mei Mei were transferred and paired together here on the recommendation from the Association of Zoos and Aquariums' Species Survival Plan® (SSP). This program supports maintaining healthy populations of animals in human care, many of which are species at risk.

The Zoo has a long history of successful participation in the red panda Species Survival Plan® and has supported the Red Panda Network’s efforts to protect them in the wild. Since 2003, 35 endangered red pandas have been born at the Zoo!

In the spirit of the holiday season, we also found out that Santa's been checking in on these two – let’s see which one made the nice list and which one has been naughty!

Nice List: Suva
He made it onto the nice list year for patiently waiting for his morning snacks and being a very relaxed and curious red panda. Way to go, Suva!

Naughty List: Mei Mei
Unlike her mate, Mei Mei made it onto the naughty list for being impatient. She’s been known to try taking treats from her animal care team if they're feeding her too slowly. Hopefully Suva can share some of his patience to help her get on the nice list!

Come by and visit the red pandas on your next adventure to the Zoo.
