Pride in the Park
Celebrate and connect at Pride in the Park events at the Zoo and The Leaf! As a Rainbow Registered organization, we are proud to celebrate the diversity and joy of our 2SLGBTQI+ communities and create spaces that make everyone feel welcome, accepted and comfortable to be themselves.
Zoo Pride Day | Sunday, May 24
9:00 am – 5:00 pm | all ages welcome
15% of admission sales at the Zoo on May 24 will be donated to the Rainbow Resource Centre and Sunshine House.
- Animal Enrichment: Spot rainbow and pride-themed enrichment in every corner of the Zoo.
- Activities (11:00 am - 3:00 pm): Enjoy family-friendly activities including face painting, crafts, a button-making station, scavenger hunt, rock painting, and add your chalk art to our colourful rainbow walk.
Leaf After Dark: Pride Edition | Wednesday, May 27
7:00 pm – 10:00 pm | This event is for adults ages 18+
15% of admission sales at The Leaf on May 27 will be donated to the Rainbow Resource Centre and Sunshine House.
Enjoy an adults-only atmosphere at The Leaf, complete with live entertainment!
- Performances: Local drag performers and a live DJ will bring the energy using biomes at The Leaf as their stage!
- Music: Enjoy live music from Hera, an artist who blends pop, jazz-funk, and R&B influences with a twist of drama from Original Pilipino Music.
- Beverages: A special Pride-themed cocktail and mocktail will be available to purchase inside the biomes at The Leaf and at Gather Craft Kitchen & Bar.
- Activities (available for all ages without admission to the biomes): Express yourself at our colourful face painting station, and make Pride-themed crafts in the Tannis M. Richardson Classroom.
Performer Descriptions
Hera
Hera is a true inter-disciplinary artist whose craft transcends boundaries. With a soul of endless curiosity, Hera has woven her magic within the threads of music, theatre, film and fashion. Blending pop, jazz-funk, and R&B influences with a twist of drama from Original Pilipino Music, Hera’s sweet voice and playful lyrics have swayed listeners on local stages. Her music and natural stage presence have also charmed audiences as far as New York City.
Nila Ganda
A queen with experience in SERVING, it’s your Filipina Diva, Nila Ganda! A fresh queen on the Winnipeg Drag Scene, with a satisfaction guarantee to mesmerize you! Nila is the recipient of the 2025 Rising Star Award, and is the current reigning Entertainer of the Year 2026. In the last year, Nila joined the cast of Queer Community Events: The Velvet Rope: An All BIPOC Showcase, Poppyfields: A Wizard of Oz Drag Cabaret, The Rocky Horror Picture Drag Show, Genderplay Cabaret, and was the Titular character of UNIT Production’s The Glitterbird.
Ruby Chopstix
This queen's goal is to empower, inspire, and help Queer BIPoC in all she does. She was the first-ever Rainbow Resource Centre Drag Artist in Residence in 2024. She has also been setting the work in by creating The Velvet Rope: A BIPoC Showcase and Party, creating her own house for BIPoC called The Dynasty, opening for Canada's Drag Race Season 2 Tour and Rêve, and becoming the Drag Events Coordinator for Ai-Kon, Winnipeg's Anime Convention! She is also the main subject of “Becoming Ruby,” a short documentary that premiered at the biggest documentary festival in North America, Hot Docs, in April 2025.
Traycee
Traycee is a proud Filipina drag queen clawing her way to the top of Winnipeg’s stages. With titles like Lipsync Assassin of Winnipeg and Imperial Grand Duchess 25, she pounces into the spotlight with the elegance of a cat and the bite of a true diva. As one-third of “Chemical X,” the spellbinding BIPOC drag trio, she’s serving high glamour and high voltage, no catnaps here. With a heart as fierce as her claws and a whip-smart stage presence, she’ll steal your breath and maybe your jewels.
