Meet Kal Barteski at the Zoo
Meet renowned local artist Kal Barteski at the Zoo's Tundra Grill and see her stunning new Arctic-inspired murals.

She will be sharing stories behind her artwork and discussing her passion for the Arctic. A selection of unique card-sized prints will be available for sale.
- Learn about the Arctic and the animals who call it home with our Northern Arctic Discovery Table.
- Create sustainable Arctic-themed crafts.
- Our 11:00 am Polar Bear Zoo Chat will take place in Tundra Grill, and Kal will join to share her insights from her time in Churchill.
- At 1:00 pm, Kal will host a chat where you can ask her questions about her art and her experiences in the Arctic.
All ages welcome, no registration required. This event is included with Zoo admission.
About the Artist
Kal Barteski is a Canadian artist. Passionate about polar bears, positive words, sea ice and environmental health, she is an advocate for the wild. She is a promoter of community and collaboration. She paints polar bears like her life depends on it. She uses brush lettering and ink drips to celebrate imperfection. She created the POLAR BEAR FUND to support innovative polar bear conservation. She coordinated the international mural festival: SeaWalls CHURCHILL.
