The charming red truck in our new display at The Leaf is a showstopper! Did you know it had a previous life on stage?
We were thrilled to inherit this stunning piece of art from the Royal Manitoba Theatre Centre for use in our display “Green Thumbs, Green Future: The Sustainable Garden”!
The truck, designed by Brian Perchaluk, was created from a welded steel frame, which was then covered in plywood and carved Styrofoam. It was then skinned with fabric, covered in resin, and hand-painted by the talented team at RMTC. The truck made its stage debut this past November in “The Recipe” at the Tom Hendry Warehouse.
The RMTC makes every effort to reuse and save props when possible, but did not foresee needing such a specific item again anytime soon.
We’re so excited to offer it a new home at The Leaf, where the expert craftsmanship can continue to be appreciated!
The “Green Thumbs, Green Future” display showcases sustainable gardening practices and provides tips for you to implement at home. We hope this piece will inspire you to find new ways to reuse and repurpose unique items that you may have tucked away in storage before purchasing new garden décor this spring!
