Are you interested in wildlife biology and conducting research? Do you want to develop skills and gain experience? If so, join Assiniboine Park Zoo's Conservation Volunteer Program!

Research programs at Assiniboine Park Zoo aim to support the betterment of wildlife in our care and to assist conservation efforts in the wild. Researchers at the Leatherdale International Polar Bear Conservation Centre (IPBCC) are engaged in a number of exciting and valuable research projects that will continue to expand our collective knowledge and understanding of the amazing animals with whom we share our planet! 

Volunteer Roles

  • Collecting and entering data
  • Researching topics relevant to ongoing or future projects
  • Assisting with special research projects taken on by Assiniboine Park Zoo
  • Helping to organize the Conservation and Research library

Commitment

  • Minimum 4 hours a week for a minimum of 3 months
  • Monday to Friday 9 am - 4 pm (some weekends are possible)
  • Location: Assiniboine Park Zoo, primarily Leatherdale International Polar Bear Conservation Centre

Qualifications

  • Student pursuing college or university training in social or natural sciences or other related fields
  • 18 years of age or older
  • Passionate about conservation, science, and the environment
  • Capable of following directions, especially while collecting data
  • Must have easy access to computer or smart phone
