Basics: Anthurium faustomirandae, or commonly known as Faustino's Giant Anthurium, is a massive perennial that's most known for its giant, heart-shaped leaves. Its very sturdy and durable leaves can grow upwards 3 to 4 feet in length and 2 to 3 feet in width. In the spring and summer, they can bloom green- and cream-coloured flowers. This specific plant was first documented in the 1950’s but its Anthurium family has been around for hundreds of years.
Habitat: They are mostly found in tropical climates and are native to Mexico, more specifically in the state of Chiapas.
Use of Plant: They are meant more for show than for use as this plant is toxic to humans, dogs and cats. However, they are resistant to deer and rabbits.

- They have been used in decorations in some countries for centuries!
- Its family member, Anthurium sp. Inflorescence, is part of the ceremonial mace of the Senate of Trinidad and Tobago.
- For the Mayan culture, the flowers are considered sacred and represent abundance and fertility.
- It’s believed that Anthurium plants give off masculine happiness, and Spathiphyllum plants give off feminine happiness. So, if you have the two plants close to each other in your home, it’ll bring harmony to those living in it!
