Wednesday - Thursday: 4:30 p.m. - 10:00 p.m.
Friday - Saturday: 4:30 p.m. - 11:00 p.m.
Sunday: 4:30 p.m. - 10:00 p.m.
Tuesday, October 29: 4:30 p.m. - 10:00 p.m.

Shift lengths, as well as start and end times will vary by role. 

Volunteer Requirements

Volunteers...

• must be 18 years of age or older
• must commit to at least two shifts throughout Boo at the Zoo
• must be able to spend extended periods of time outdoors in all kinds of weather
• must be able to move around easily outdoors either on foot or with the use of mobility aids
• are encouraged to wear family-friendly Halloween costumes
• must be comfortable interacting with visitors of all ages
• must follow directions from staff and lead volunteers
• must complete a short online training module

General Volunteer Positions

The following positions are suitable for all volunteers:

• Visitor Services Concierge
• Event Ambassadors
• Access Control Ambassadors
• Games Hosts

All positions require volunteers to spend time outdoors and have great communication skills. We will make an effort to assign tasks you prefer. However, a certain degree of flexibility is required.

Volunteer schedules are subject to change. Position descriptions and a list of tasks will be provided upon receipt of application. The opportunity to sign up for shifts will be provided upon completion of the online training module.

Volunteer Benefits

Volunteers are asked to commit to a minimum of two shifts. Weekday shifts are approximately 5 hours long (with breaks). Friday and Saturday shifts are approximately 3 hours long (with breaks).

Volunteers receive complimentary parking on-site. 

For every shift, you will receive:

• Coffee, hot chocolate, water, and prepackaged snacks
• At your first shift, you will receive a Boo at the Zoo branded souvenir
• After 3 shifts, you will receive a surprise Boo at the Zoo gift
• After 5 shifts, you will receive six (6) adult Zoo tickets
• After 10 shifts, earn a special reward that’s sure to surprise you. Stay tuned to find out!
