For over a century, Assiniboine Park has been a cherished gathering place for our community. Yet not everyone can access this beloved space due to financial barriers.
That's where ParkShare comes in.
ParkShare is the only program of its kind in our community that offers free Park and Zoo educational programming to a variety of under-resourced children, youth, and senior groups. In 2025, we welcomed 6,656 individuals from over 360 groups—a nearly 10% increase from the previous year.
With the support of our generous donors, we can respond to community needs as they arise. Last summer, when Northern Manitoba wildfires forced evacuations, we welcomed groups to the Zoo free of charge while they were sheltering in Winnipeg.

A thank you note from Logan at Elwick Community School.
Staff from Sakastew School in Pukatawagan shared that their "inspiring and educational experience exploring wildlife brought light and joy during a challenging time."
ParkShare funding allows us to customize experiences to each group's unique needs and interests. Last December, the Kookum's and Grandma's Group at the North End Women's Centre participated in a plant-based self-care aromatherapy activity at The Leaf.
“I can’t say enough about what this meant for our community,” said Brigitta Perkins, staff member of the North End Women’s Centre. “They are still raving about it. One thing I wanted to share was the smiles on their faces throughout the day and the comment from one woman – ‘I am going to hold on to this feeling for a long time.’”

A thank you note from Earl Grey School.
Demand for ParkShare experiences continues to grow each year. Thanks to the generosity of our donors, we can accommodate more local organizations and their participants, ensuring that Assiniboine Park remains accessible to all.
ParkShare is generously supported by Canada Life, the Shirley Anne Richardson Annual Giving Trust Fund, and community donors.
